💸 Mission Nirmal Bangla – Sanitation for All
Overview: Mission Nirmal Bangla is West Bengal's state-specific sanitation campaign, launched ahead of the national Swachh Bharat Mission.
Key Objectives:
- Construct individual household latrines, especially in underserved areas.
- Provide community and public toilets in areas without household land.
- Ensure proper sanitation facilities in educational institutions and public spaces.
- Promote awareness and behavioral change towards safe hygiene practices.
Urban Component:
- Making cities ODF with household and community toilets.
- Implementing integrated solid waste management, including segregation, composting, and energy production.
- Raising public awareness for sustainable sanitation practices.
Key Initiatives in Our Municipality
- Smart Waste Collection: Deployment of GPS-enabled waste collection vehicles for timely and transparent door-to-door collection.
- Community Toilets & Public Sanitation Units: Construction and maintenance of hygienic, gender-sensitive, and accessible public toilets across key areas.
- Zero Litter Zones: Transformation of litter-prone areas into clean and green zones.
- School Awareness Drives: Regular educational programs in schools to instill hygiene habits.
- Swachhata Champions Program: Rewards for local cleanliness initiative leaders.
